These upturned boats are believed to be once part of the largest herring fleet on the east coast of England, but by the 1900's few remained, and were no longer seaworthy. They were converted into sheds, and now make a fitting subject against the backdrop of Lindisfarne Castle, Holy Island, off the Northumberland coast. When I made this image, the light glowed on the shed as the sun began to set, making this distinctive image.
