TALL SHIP, BLYTH, NORTHUMBERLAND

TALL SHIP, BLYTH, NORTHUMBERLAND

In 2005, the Tall Ships visited the Tyne and Blyth, and I was commissioned to photograph the event. This particular ship was both imposing and majestic as it entered the River Blyth, and though I made many images in the harbour, I also sailed down the North East coast to the Tyne, and returned on her. It was a great adventure, and a privilege, as I hope these images show. In this image, she passes up the River Blyth, with the wind turbines on the jetty in the background.
The Dar Mlodziezy (or "The Gift of Youth") is a large Polish sail training ship, launched in 1982 in Gdansk. It was built to train Polish marine cadets and to compete in Tall Ship Races.
