"One of North East England's best known photographers"
John was born on Tyneside, in the North-East of England. His
work has taken him to a great number of places in England, but
his home for many years has been in Northumberland, England's most
northerly county. He feels that his adopted county offers him some
of the best photographic opportunities in the UK, and encourages
him to portray the countryside and coast at their best.
Motivated by the landscape in which he lives, and passionate
about his photography, he is inspired by all the natural beauty
and heritage that Northumberland has to offer.
Working mainly in landscape and travel, he has a distinctive
style. It captures the essence of the people and places he photographs,
both here and abroad, from the lavender and sunflowers of Provence,
to the tea plantations and stilt fishermen of Southern India, and
the grace and beauty of the National Dance Company of Cuba.
Images from his stock library are published widely, often with
accompanying editorial, and commissions have included work for
national and international publishers.
In addition to his widely published landscape photography, which
is used extensively in the tourism and travel industry, John undertakes
lifestyle, commercial and corporate PR work. His pictures have
appeared regularly in the local and regional press, as well as
in corporate brochures. John's clients include the publishers of
several popular UK magazines, for whom he also provides written
articles. He also works on photographic commissions on a regular
basis, and has a very comprehensive picture library covering the
North of England and countries abroad.
More recently, his fascination for gardens, plants, and flowers,
has inspired him to create studies in close-up, abstracts, and
images of flowers and leaves in frost and ice.
